No matter the occasion, there’s nothing quite like happy hour to celebrate good news or unwind after a busy day.

Luckily, La Jolla has several buzzing bars where you can find 2-for-1 drinks and discounted dishes.

We’ve compiled the best of La Jolla’s happy hour hot spots, including Mexican cantinas, cozy wine bars, and lively haunts boasting ocean views.

Best Spots For Happy Hour In La Jolla

The Shores Restaurant

If happy hour and views of the Pacific sound right up your alley, you need to add The Shore to your list.

Head to the patio before the seats fill up and tuck into $7 appetizers like asada fries and chicken tacos. Then wash them down with a glass of house wine or bottled beer for the same price.

Craft drafts like Barrio Lager and Chasing Citra IPA go for just $9 during happy hour.

Running from 2 to 5 pm from Monday to Thursday, The Shore is a must for an afternoon drink.

$6 drafts and $9 glasses of wine are also on the agenda. 

From Monday to Friday, stop by between 3 and 5 pm for your happy hour fix, or visit on Tuesdays from 3 to 9 pm for cheap tacos and $6 drafts.

Jose’s Courtroom

Sticking with the Mexican theme, Jose’s Courtroom is a long-standing figure in the La Jolla happy hour scene.

A sports bar known for its tasty Mexican food, Jose’s Courtroom has some superb happy hour deals you won’t want to miss.

How does 20% off any starter, or $18 pitchers, and $5 house margaritas sound?

You can sip on $5 Estrellas and discounted nachos every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

You’ll find similar deals on Tuesdays, where reduced drinks are served alongside $3.50 tacos.

Duke’s La Jolla

Say goodbye to Mexico and ‘aloha’ to Hawaii at Duke’s, where you can sip on tropical cocktails in a Pacific-inspired setting.

Move into the barefoot bar on Tuesdays for some $8 margaritas or $5 Pacificos to accompany your budget-friendly tacos.

Otherwise, come along on Fridays to quench your thirst with $10 mai tais while you listen to Hawaiian-style live music. 

Taco Tuesday runs from 3 pm every week until close, while Aloha Fridays run from 3 to 6 pm.It’s easy to understand why this happy hour in La Jolla is so loved.

If you happen to be in the Bird Rock area and fancy a quick snack and seasonal cocktails, Beaumont’s will tick all your boxes.

Beaumont’s happy hour line-up is arguably the best in the city. Brisket poutine for $14, three sliders for $12, and $9 salmon flatbread are just some of the mouthwatering offerings.

They don’t disappoint on drinks, either. Cocktails come in between $8-10, while bottled beer goes for just $5.

Head to Beaumont’s from 4 to 6 pm Monday to Friday, or between 3 to 6 pm on weekends.

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood

La Jolla’s finest seafood restaurant, Eddie V’s, doubles as a local favorite for happy hour deals. 

Mini filet mignon sandwiches, fresh oysters, and black truffle tartar are all on the menu for less than $12 each, not to mention their calamari and crab cakes.

House wines will set you back $9, while cosmos and martinis are just $10.

Happy hour at Eddie V’s takes place from 4 – 6:30 pm from Sunday to Thursday.

Hennessey’s Tavern

Hennessey’s Tavern is as famous for their Irish hospitality as it is for their tempting happy hour.

Their range of $7 snacks includes street tacos and pretzel bites, though the spicy chicken bites are undoubtedly a local favorite. Jumbo-sized Coors Light and screwdrivers are reduced to just $6, or you can get oversized wines and huge draft Lagunitas for $8. 

Get your hands on these drink deals from 4 to 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Nautilus Tavern

Nautilus Tavern is a trendy sports bar just a stone’s throw from Windansea Beach, in downtown La Jolla. Not only is it in a prime location, but is a chilled-out spot with a hard-to-resist happy hour menu as well.

Watch the big game and enjoy half-priced draft beer, house wine, and well-liquors. If you have a hankering for Mexican, all appetizers are reduced by $2. The coconut shrimp and quesadillas are a must!

From 3 – 6 pm midweek, you can snag some happy hour discounts.

Nautilus Tavern also offers additional midweek specials, including half-off wine and wings every Thursday. 

The Promiscuous Fork

Just a few doors down from Nautilus Tavern is The Promiscuous Fork, a quirky American-style eatery that’s a staple in La Jolla’s happy hour scene.

The Promiscuous Fork aims to create fun dining experiences for guests, which makes for a pretty perfect happy hour atmosphere.

Not only can you get draft beers and select wines with a $2 discount, but you can also nibble on treats like pork belly tacos and beef sliders for just 6 bucks.

Join in on the good times between 3 and 6 pm every Monday to Friday.

The Shack Bar & Grill

On top of their daily specials, like Wine Wednesdays and Sunday Fundays, The Shack has one of the few happy hours that runs every day of the week.

If you’re not in the mood for $5 beers, $6 spirits, and $7 wines, treat yourself to $10 cocktails from their ‘local favorites only’ list. This list includes vodka mules and cucumber gimlets.

The Lot

Don’t worry if you want to skip the film and stick to the dining room, happy hour at The Lot is available for guests in both the restaurant and movie theater.

A mountain of nachos and drool-worthy flatbreads are all up for grabs, as are $12 cocktails and $7.50 beers. 

If discounted food and drinks while watching the latest flicks sounds like your thing, plan your cinema trip between 3 and 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
