Brunch is an awesome meal. I usually find myself feeling like a princess when I’m out to brunch even if it’s somewhere cheap or not really all that fancy. There’s just something about brunch.

Brunch in La Jolla, however, is on a whole other level. The community itself is pretty upscale. It’s more expensive being near the beautiful ocean. Many of our favorite brunch spots in La Jolla have gorgeous sweeping views of the ocean – you can only imagine how fun brunch is with a view like that.

And if you are looking for recommendations for the best brunch places in San Diego, take a look here.

When the season comes around, definitely grab Chef Maeve’s famous Ginger Chew cookie but until then, enjoy her breakfast/brunch menu all day long. But please, make a reservation so you can get a table.

Sandwich with egg, mackerel and edible flowers of chives

This lovely La Jolla restaurant was built around 1894 for a physician as a weekend retreat. But after he died, two sisters took it over and rented it out since weekend cottages were very popular at that time. Then, towards the end of the 20th century, a coffee and tea company took over. They turned it into the restaurant that you know today as the Brockton Villa Restaurant.

This is a family-owned business that is proud of its history and food. The delicious food is worth the price and not unexpected in the La Jolla area. Their dedication to a fine dining experience has boosted not only their customer service but their quality of food as well. At Brockton, you’ll experience brunch as its finest. It’s got views, good service, and excellent food & cocktails.

Duke’s is a spot to feel like you’re in Hawaii without the possibility of racking up a huge travel bill. Duke, the inspiration behind this restaurant, was a huge advocate for the Aloha spirit. He traveled around the world and participated in many Olympics for freestyle. He was well-loved by friends, family, teammates, and complete strangers.

The restaurant is inspired by this man and his love for his homeland of Hawaii. They take Polynesian classics and put a modern spin on them as well as putting a Polynesian spin on other diner classics.

Since 1948, this establishment has been serving up glorious breakfast starting in the mid-west. We were lucky enough to get a Richard Walker’s in La Jolla in 2014. It got popular fast. Word of their greatness had traveled from Illinois and it followed them even to their newer establishments in the area.

The familial comfort of their signature rabbit provides a welcoming gesture of warmth to each guest. Their traditional menu with a couple of neat twists and turns isn’t the only thing that people rave about. Their coffee is their biggest seller. It’s so good that they decided to sell it by the bag too. You can only get this unique blend at a Richard Walker location. From production to in-house brewing, they handle their beans with the utmost care and precision.

Their simple dishes are enhanced by fresh ingredients and careful preparation.
